» HP OpenView Self-Healing services now available!
December 2003

The Self-Healing Services for NNM and OVO Unix has been released and is available to customers as a download from Software Support Online. HP has delivered a unique set of technologies and services for detecting, analyzing, and proactively responding to management software faults in the customer environment. With this new, free service for software support customers, customers spend less time managing their software and can focus more on their business. Some of the benefits include real-time problem detection, data collection, streamlined problem analysis and recommendation, and efficient support case initiation for their HP OpenView software.

How it works:
  • The process starts when an HP OpenView management software fault is automatically detected on a customer system.
  • Next, the fault information is securely sent to HP for analysis.
  • When the analysis is complete, an analysis report is posted to the Software Support Online support portal in a private and protected area.
  • The customer is then notified that the analysis report is ready for viewing.
  • A web link on the analysis report allows the customer to request additional support assistance if desired.
Self-Healing is available to NNM and OVO customers. More products will be supported in future releases. To learn more about this exciting feature to next generation software support, please visit: http://support.openview.hp.com/self_healing.jsp.

HP OpenView Network Node Manager 7.0 has been released

October 2003

HP OpenView Network Node Manager 7.0 has been released late October 2003. This new product comes in 2 versions to fit all sizes and complexities of today's network environment. These 2 versions are Network Node Manager Starter Edition 7.0 and Network Node Manager Advanced Edition 7.0. Capabilities of the Advanced Edition can be expanded with Network Node Manager Smart Plug-Ins.

Customers with an active support contract for Network Node Manager, Network Node Manager Extended Topology or Problem Diagnosis will soon receive an email notification (for customers using Software Update Manager) or a letter (all other customers) about the availability of Network Node Manager 7.0. That letter will include instructions on how to request the media and manuals. The shipment with the media and manuals will include instructions as well as documentation (like the Migration Guide) on how to prepare to migrate to Network Node Manager 7.0.

For more information about Network Node Manager 7.0, check www.managementsoftware.hp.com/products/nnm/. There you'll also find a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document addressing the product structure, features and upgrading from a previous version of NNM. Should you, after having read the FAQ document, still have question about the product, please contact your local sales representative or HP Software business partner.

For technical questions about or issues with migrating to NNM 7.0, please check our knowledge base at support.openview.hp.com. In case you can't find an answer or solution in the knowledge base, we're ready to have a support engineer help you after you've opened a support case with us.
