HP Software Daylight Saving Time ITSM

Product Notes and Requirements
AssetCenter The time zone information, including Daylight Saving Time, is stored in the database (table amTimeZone). Knowledge article 1624209 was created to help understand DST impact on AssetCenter. Knowledge article 1728417 contains import scripts to update the AssetCenter database for version 3.6, 4.x, and 5.0. The Web tier requires the relevant Java updates. Visit the operating system and JDK vendor links for addtional details.Daylight Savings.
Connect-It The time zone information, including Daylight Saving Time, is stored in text files that reside in the "bin" folder of the Connect-It installation folder. Knowledge article 1785544 provides the timezone files to support the DST changes. Also, visit the operating system and JDK vendor links for addtional details.Daylight Savings.
ServiceCenter Because ServiceCenter includes native logic for processing time zones, including Daylight Saving Time, data updates are required to support the change. ServiceCenter 6.2 includes the required changes. For prior versions, knowledge article 752597 describes the change and includes the applicable unload. The Web tier and Windows client also require the relevant Java updates. Visit the operating system and JDK vendor links for addtional details.Daylight Savings.
Service Desk 4.5

Service Desk 4.5 relies upon the underlying operating system and Java Virtual Machine to support the Daylight Saving Time change. A patch is needed to implement the new version of Java Virtual Machine. A patch was published in December 2006 to implement the new time zone settings for existing customers when they use the proper Service Pack level. Service Pack 22 supports the new version of the JVM and will set time zones dynamically.

Service Packs 11, 17, 18 and 21 are supported through SDSK_00106 See ITSM008878 and ITSM008950 for documentation.

Service Desk 5.10

Service Desk 5.0 relies upon the underlying operating system and Java Virtual Machine to support the Daylight Saving Time change. However, an update to Service Desk is needed to provide the updated JVM.

SDSK_00107 supports the new DST change for all Service Desk 5.x versions: Service Desk 5.0 MR, Service Desk 5.0 Patch 1 + 2, Service Desk 5.10 MR, Service Desk 5.10 Patch 1. It includes a Service Desk tool to change the time zone display name in Service Desk 5.x. Service Desk 5.10 Patch 2 includes a new JDK 1.4.2_11 to support the DST change. The following e_Care documentation provide addtional details: QXCR1000388539 and QXCR1000389623.

Service Desk Service Level Management (SD SLM)

Service Desk Service Level Management relies on the operating system and Java for Daylight Saving Time support.

Service Desk 5.1 Patch 2 includes a new JDK version that supports the DST change.

Mercury Service Desk (MSD)

Mercury Service Desk support for time zones is fully configurable through its user interface at the Master instance level. System administrators should change the daylight switch date to support the Daylight Saving Time change.

ServiceCenter Automation (SC Auto) ServiceCenter Automation relies upon the underlying operating system for Daylight Saving Time support. Nothing needs to be done to ServiceCenter Automation as long as the operating system supports the DST change. Visit the operating system and JDK vendor links for addtional details. Daylight Saving.
Get-It The Get-It suite relies upon the underlying operating system and Java Virtual Machine for Daylight Saving Time support. Nothing needs to be done to Get-It as long as the operating system and Java Vitural Machine support the DST change. Knowledge article 1709025 describes the Java runtime version requirements.
DecisionCenter

DecisionCenter relies on the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or the JODA library for Daylight Saving Time support. We have tested the new DST support for the 1.0 release and have identified one bug from Microsoft: MS SQL 2000 sp3 driver does not convert a date-time field correctly from the database at the DST change.

We already ship a version of JODA (1.2.1) that supports the new DST change.

We also recommend the appropriate versions of the third-party libraries we rely on: Sun J2SE 1.4.2 (minimum 1.4.2_11).

Connect-It changes the time based on the day the data was mapped rather than the content of the date itself. As such, our current DST support causes a random shift of +/- 1 hour in the data. A workaround is available in which .bas code stores all data in the same time zone regardless of DST.

In summary, at this time, customers should:

  • Specify the environment on which the optimization engine runs, including the operating system and the required JRE version: Sun J2SE JRE 1.4.2 (minimum 1.4.2_11)
  • Specify the supported JRE version for the Connect-It server: Sun J2SE JRE 1.4.2 (minimum 1.4.2_11)
  • Specify the supported JDK version for the application server: Sun J2SE JDK 1.4.2 (minimum 1.4.2_11)
Select Access Select Access relies on the operating system and the Java Virtual Management for Daylight Saving Time support. Appropriate updates to the operating system and middleware are sufficient with one exception. Select Access installs a "private" JRE for the administration server, so we plan to issue patches for currently supported versions to update the JRE for DST support. For versions that cannot be patched within the required timeframe, refer to e-Care document OV-EN022873 documenting the manual JRE update process.
Select Identity Select Identity relies upon the underlying operating system, java virtual machine, and database management system to handle time zone processing. As such, appropriate updates to the OS and middleware are sufficient to ensure proper operation with no need for application updates. Visit the operating system and JDK vendor links for addtional details.Daylight saving.
Select Federation Select Federation relies on the Java Virtual Machine included with the servlet engine on which it is installed, with one exception. Select Federation can be installed in a standalone mode; in that case, Select Federation includes a copy of the JRE and a Tomcat servlet engine. Refer to e-Care document OV-EN022878 documenting the manual JRE update process.
Select Audit Select Audit relies on the Java Virtual Machine included with the J2EE server for Daylight Saving Time support. Refer to e-Care document OV-EN022877 documenting the manual JRE update process.
